Managing Attorney

Attorney Nana P. Boakye
Attorney Nana P. Boakye is the managing attorney at NextStep Law Firm, where she passionately offers legal guidance in both criminal and immigration law. In her role, Nana primarily helps clients facing criminal charges navigate the complexities of criminal proceedings, working tirelessly to protect their rights and secure the best possible outcomes. She also provides strategic immigration advice, assisting clients with family-based and employment-based visa applications, and guiding them through the intricacies of U.S. immigration law.
Nana’s practice is deeply shaped by her personal experience as an immigrant, coupled with her professional background at one of the largest immigration law firms in the U.S., as well as a boutique firm specializing in immigration, human rights, and asylum matters. Prior to her immigration law work, Nana served as a Public Defender for Fulton County, Georgia’s most populous county, where she defended individuals accused of crimes and ensured their constitutional right to a fair trial.
With a rich background in immigration law, Nana has gained extensive experience in handling complex cases, such as responding to Request for Evidence (RFEs), preparing nonimmigrant visas, filing PERM labor certifications, and assisting clients with applications for permanent residence and citizenship. Her time as a Public Defender further honed her legal expertise, where she advocated for those in need of a strong defense in criminal matters.
Beyond her practice, Nana is deeply committed to giving back to her community. Since 2016, she has volunteered at citizenship clinics across Atlanta, offering pro bono assistance in reviewing citizenship forms. She has also participated in various Law Days, providing free legal advice in criminal and immigration law to local residents, and regularly volunteers in the Saturday Lawyer program through the Atlanta Volunteer Lawyers Foundation.
Nana is admitted to practice law in Georgia and is an active member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association. She holds a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Ghana, a Law degree from Queen Mary University of London, and a Master of Laws (LL.M.) from Georgia State University College of Law in Atlanta. Nana’s unique perspective is enriched by her diverse background, having lived, studied, and worked in Ghana, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
Through her work, Nana is not only an advocate but also a trusted guide for clients navigating the challenges of criminal defense and immigration law.
